Latest Updates on Nigerian Blogger VeryDarkMan's Custody Case

Stay updated on the custody case of Nigerian Blogger VeryDarkMan and his comments against senior police officers. Click to learn more.

Martin Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, is a controversial social media critic who has been placed under police remand. We have discovered that VDM, as he is affectionately known, was charged with cyberbullying on Wednesday in a court in Abuja.

The social media critic was placed under arrest pending his next hearing, which is set for next Wednesday, despite entering a not guilty plea to all counts. Punch claims that after VDM's attorney, Deji Adeyanju, requested release, the prosecution requested an extension, which caused the court to postpone the bail hearing till May 29.

Remember how VeryDarkMan was taken into custody by authorities in April on charges of cyberbullying? He stated that the reason for his arrest was a video in which he demanded the arrest of Nigerian transvestite Idris Okunneye, also known as Bobrisky and alleged protection by gay politicians.

In a recent interview, Force Police Public Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi responded to calls for the country's crossdressers to be arrested by explaining that, since crossdressing is not illegal in Nigeria, transvestites cannot be arrested.

He explained that in the absence of strong proof, crossdressing is not considered a criminal conduct, hence the police are powerless to investigate allegations of homosexuality.
